Today I made a batch of marinara/pasta sauce. While I was cooking I was thinking… a jar of pasta sauce costs around $3.00. After the cost of the tomato and basil plants, the water to grow them to picking size, onions and garlic, not to mention my time… I think it’s cheaper to buy it :) At least I know exactly what went into it and it tastes pretty good!
Definitely cheaper. But the love makes it priceless. :)
I always think this when I can veggies or make jam. I priced out making applesauce last fall and Costco was so much cheaper (since we had an awful crop of our own and would have had to purchase apples in bulk. :) ) But, you’re right on about know what goes into it! And I bet it tastes better!
Well, it looks good! …and probably more full of flavor. :)
Thanks for stopping by…it was *really* beautiful up there.
I make my own pasta sauce and it’s definitely cheaper to buy it but it tastes so much better. 100% worth the additional money, time and work.
We tried to grow tomato’s last year and I figured that the two we ended up with cost us about $20 each! However they were delicious and I bet the same goes for your sauce. It looks yummy.
Look at you making your own spaghetti sauce now :O) Freeze some and send it my way :O)
