11 Months
11 months. I’m pretty sure that it’s impossible for him to be this old! This past month he has started saying Mama (and sometimes, Dada) purposefully and is starting to show interest in standing independently and walking. That toddler stage is right around the corner.
First Day of Italian Preschool
Yes, it is almost the end of the school year, but today was the first day of school for this guy! He was thrilled to go and super happy that I pulled out his backpack. His school is run by the loveliest Sicilian ladies and he will learn Italian (and have home cooked Italian lunches!

Ladies of the Spring
We’re at the tail end of poppy season here in Sicily. For several weeks, the roadsides have been a chaotic quilt of wildflowers, with the punchy red of the poppies reigning over them all.

Legos, Together
They worked on this project together, for about 2 hours, with very few- if any- arguments. It’s been a bit contentious around here, lately, so this activity and their cooperation was a high point in our week. I think they will end up as very good friends… it will just take some perseverance to get
Kiwi Crate
We receive Kiwi Crates as a gift from one thoughtful set of Grandparents. They are a gift for the middle kiddo, but he is usually happy to share the fun activities with his older brother. This time, they were working on creating postcards with oil pastels and watercolors.
The Game
The first T-ball game. This post is strictly for family members and others who don’t mind that I’m a sports photography novice. I imagine in a few years, with 3 boys involved in sports, I’ll be an old hand at these types of image opportunities and light/framing challenges. ;)

First Tball practice for this set of 5 and 6 year olds. Oh my goodness. It was awesome. Look at the effort in that toss! :) Suggesting “Super Sox” for the team name. While I’m a little afraid of the way organized sports might take over my life as a mom of 3 boys, the
His Uncle’s Outfit
I’ve been meaning to take these pictures for 7 years, now. During each of the boys’s first years, this outfit has hung in their closet, waiting for me to pull it out and take the heirloom photos I’ve been meaning to capture. My brother wore this outfit at my Aunt and Uncle’s wedding about 30

Kindereggs Rock
This easter season introduced us to the magic that is Kindereggs. These hollow chocolate eggs with a treat inside are banned in the US because the toys they contain are tiny and, quite honestly, a real choking hazard for the under 3 crowd. However, here in Europe, we can handle that! :) You can find
2 Boys
Late afternoon is sometimes a slightly volatile time. You might get smiles or you might find sulkiness if you stop by our house.
Cinquecento
Last weekend the Naval Base hosted a Cinquecento car show. I’ve never seen so many tiny little cars gathered in one place!
Working on Cruising
He’s got the pulling up thing down, now. Next step- figuring out how to move in between the pieces of furniture!

8 and 1/2 Months
After a few days of tentative crawling, he’s now full speed ahead and ambitiously searching out mischief wherever possible. Cords, paper, painted surface (i.e.- crib rails) have once again proven magnetic to a newly mobile Cieloha boy. But that face… oh my goodness he’s kissable. No matter how many times I have to rescue him
